There was a time when i thought almost everything that i'd call "home" would fit onto the harddrive of a portable computer. Well, i was wrong.
You realise that the things that matter cannot be converted to digital signals, nor can face to face communication ever be substituted by anything else.
And most of all, i realised i'm not a machine. There might be a lot of things i'm interested in, and a lot of times i'd rather play around then go to bed.
But without the sensitivity of other people, people you trust, people that take care of you, people that know how you feel, life somehow looses a lot of it's sense. And even the most interesting and promising productions and events won't fill the gap that rests inside of you.
I'm sure there's ways of managing this. Building up new roots, maybe. Maybe there's even people that don't feel this way.
Well i do. I know now.
On the other hand, it doesn't make that much sense to build up another home right now, since there's a ton of new frontiers to be discovered, almost spread over the whole "western" globe.
That said, wouldn't it make much more sense to shift the digital communication from my social life to my work life?
But then again, you cannot work without face to face contact with the one you work for.
It's a choice you make i think, ever and so often again.
Isn't it weird that we're so convinced that you cannot work together without looking each other in the eye? And then we forget that you cannot live together without touching each other's skin from time to time...
