picture galore has been constructed during our visit to the empire state building.
Klaus left today, so it's getting quiet again. Nice development on the project and the future plans. Let's see.
Here we goooooo...

Now why would they sell golf balls at the top of a 300 meter Building? You get eerie thoughts...
And on our way up, no one noticed,... but they were watching...

have a save trip, klaus.

hello again,
after a week (almost) full of silence i'm back in business. Well at least i have some time to wash my clothes now, so i'll take the little extra time and keep you up with what's going on.
As you could guess from the headline, we've been to the art directors club watching an exhibition of student works from godknowswhere.
So here's some of the works...

well, and then, we've been to the whitneys biennale. Some sort of art exhibition featuring the best of new and upcoming young talents and so forth. Kinda interesting. I didn't take any pictures 'cause it wasn't allowed...as you might have guessed.
Besides, i'm fed up with uploading now and tired.
I want my bed, now!

//before
the fun part begins, let's take a second and thing about today having been the day the war in iraq started, a year ago. Massive protests went on against the war today, as you can see here and here...

now that we've thought about that,...
...yes, we were at the guggenheim today. And guess what, it was nice.
Even though we didn't have anything for breakfast.
Even though it was cold.
Even though i hate it when it's cold.
Even though it was a long walk.
Well despite all these massive obstacles we managed to get there and took a walk through the exhibition. Unfortunately we were mistakingly thinking that it would not be allowed to take any pictures... so no pictures from the exhibition, just the basement and front. Here we go, click on the pictures to see some moving things...

and then, this...

further explanation only when asking...
Meanwhile another wallpaper so you can show someone. Grab it!
Oh, and not to forget, a decent glance a what my work is looking like by now

And then, i must admit, i was really impressed, when i saw this:
Blade Runner Unreal Movie at fileplanet
It's taken from an unreal tournament movie, the same stuff i do but actually looks very well done.
Besides, i'm going to show off my work by now, so if anyone hasn't seen this yet, go download it (right mousebutton and "SaveAs" becuase if you lack Quictime Pro you cannot save it!!!)...
So, big update again. Now it's 2 a.m. and i'll go to bed.
Have a nice day, whereever you are...

//so
i finally found the time to play tourist. Well, not that it really would've been a time issue, but it feels less strange if someone else is pulling out his camera, too. So Klaus took pictures... and i took some myself.
So you find a really big update here. Movies, pics and even a wallpaper from a picture i took.
But let's start off...
So i went to catch Klaus at the airport, not without taking a picture of Kurt and Claudia working in the studio. So here they are...

and then, I did the airport.
It's actually as you would walk out of new york into some 70s style Science Fiction brainwork of building called "airtrain station".
There is literally one step from cold, rusty, loud new york into quiet, warm, stylish airtrain terminal...
But it does not really look modern. Maybe modern, but definetly New York style...

and then the ride on the train. A picture. And now, a wallpaper. We all love fast digital production cycles don't we?

and not enough, the whole thing started to get interesting. So the first thing to show someone who's never been to ny would be Times Square, right?
Right, and i had to pick up my laptop from the studio anyway so we got out(Subway...) at 42nd Street and in to the studio.
What came then was truly amazing. We went to the roof of the studio building and looked at this and this here
then back home, walking, he wanted to.
Without hesitating too much (just checking mails and tidying up a little) back to time square, this time for real
Amazing, every time again. Imagine the power surge! Well, let's not...
After having a steak and mushrooms with bacon (sorry Klaus, no vegetarian stuff, should've known...) stepping home and ran over this...

well i know at least one guy who's smiling know...
More tourist action to come! Beware!

//yesterday
someting weird was going on. You may know that i'm walking past Madison Square Garden on my way from the studio.
Yesterday, there was this huge, i mean, massive crowd scattered throughout the whole block. Mllions of people, literally thousands of them.
And lots of police. This is the only picture i got:

and, i did a short movie. Unfortunately just right before madison square garden. Well you'll get the the idea, new york by night blabla...
it is here
Klaus will arrive today. Maybe i'll do some sort of Cast Listing for my NY trip report. So you'll see Kurt, Claudia, maybe Josh and Klaus...
Just thinking...

//it
is snowing in manhattan can you believe it?
If not, take a look at this here.
Now i posted several days ago that the case for my hard drive broke. So i ordered another one and i should arrive yesterday. Apparently i din't. FedEx.com said the adress was wrong. Well, it wasn't. Anyway, i had a walk to the fedex office (about a mile away) to get my packege from there. When arriving, i realised i lost my tracking number.
Now it is necessary to know that you're kind of lost, too, if you loose your tracking number since they cannot find your package.
So back home, getting the tracking number again and back to the office.
Did i mention that it's snowing? And we have a firm wind blowing through the street?
Alright, back in the office i found the piece of paper it originally put the trcking number on in the first place.
So that's me, live, stereo and brought to you in full colour.
Now there's one more thing i wanted to write about. You may already heard in the news that there was this terrible attack on spanish train stations and now terrorists threaten france and other major citys in europe.
It is now that we realise how peaceful Europe really was and how precious this peace really is.
When i was in berlin with school some 7 years ago, we had a presentation from the foreign ministry. The man running it asked what the most precious development in the last half decade was and noone really came to know...
...that it was peace!
And it was such a fragile state we were living in. How come a small amount of people can threaten so many?

So i'm into programming a bit the next few hours. let's see what we can do...

whomever i said that the "all is full of love" videoclip for björk is done entirely in CG:
IT'S NOT TRUE!
They actually built those robots and built a lot of the machines constructing it. But they built even more detail in CG later on and added a lot of density through more robotic stuff.
So, a lot was done in CG but a lot was built from scratch.
Just to let you know...

the phone company blocked our phone for oversea calls. Noone knows why. Maybe it has something to do with the answering machine of my parents, maybe not. So, whoever that was, calling me today at 12 pm (18:00 german time) please write an electronic message of some kind since my cellphone was set silent and i couldn't answer...

funny though how far electronic cmmunication can go. I'm pretty sure that, by now, i'm far easier to be reached by eMail or instant messaging than by a phone call.

how's that? Using FinalCutPro4 at university in Stuttgart from a PC in New York to finish your stuff out?
Welcome, again, to the 21st century...
VNC and Remote Desktop made this possible. So what to expect in the near future? Work from home? Control EVERYTHING, at least every computer from one place?
Oh and get a look on this.
Why are artificial lifeforms represented in media so damn human-like? Wouldn't they be, at least, some sort of collective? I cannot imagine that AI will consist of any singular processing unit and so its mind would definetly be a pluralistic sort of existence.
Weird. But interesting.
How come i think about stuff like that? neuromancer by wiliam gibson...
Anyone of you wanna know a little more about my camera? Well, you guess i went there again? Don't you?
And RIGHT you are...
This time, it was later, COLDER, EMPTIER on the streets.
And this time again, i shall not return with a camera.
Guess why? The subway worked, and i did manage to get to the adress even though it was cold.
And cold it was.
And it was still cold when they eventually told me...
Well, after i was asking three times where it was...
Someone told me they moved.
THEY MOVED.
So, no camera.
But hey, this was not the only store to have this camera, right?
So i went to this tourist store, with loads of neon-sogns and all-too-friendly salesmen.
And guess what, "good price" for the camera, the same as broadwayphoto would have had. But they tried to trick me with an additional battery. They gave me a standard battery in the packaging of a high capacity battery.
And after being there again and complaining, they told me they ordered the higher capacity battery and wanted to tell me but i left so fast, that they couldn't.
Yeah, sure.
Then, i was returning today to get my "high capacity battery" worth 199$ and guess what? It was there. The funny thing was now, that they told me this battery would be worth 249,90$ and i should pay 25 $ more!!
Alright. The thing is, i knew the battery and it was not the biggest capacity battery. And it was 99$ at Sony direct.
So?
I said i wouldn't pay anything more. And he said "alright, then take it" and i took it and went.
So why? You might think. Since i paid 199$ for a battery only worth 99$?
Well, the camera was cheap enough, so the deal wasn't that bad. And i had more than enough of that hassle.
So, what do we learn from this?
Never give your credit card to anyone unless you ABSOLUTELY know what they'll do with it...
It won't happen again. And we are thankful that nothing worse happened...

End of series!
/////////////////////////////////
//well
the week is gone and so is our series. So you may want to write to me which one is the MOST UNSUSPICIOUS VAN you saw on this weblog?
And don't forget to include this one, with special feature-sticker...

alright waht happened in the last couple of days? Eventually after havng had a weekend of finishing the demo for france, Kurt went a i have at least some free time now before he's back again and the real work starts.
Today, this really interesting thing happened to me. I was on my way to broadwayphoto to buy this camcorder i wrote about. This store has really great prices and all the latest stuff, PLUS you can go there and touch everything...
Now for the next few sentences, it might be good to know that it is situated in Brooklyn and run by orthodox jews...
So i decided to go there, and the first thing that happened is the subway had delay. Sure, not a big deal. But then everybody was cofused because they rerouted some of the trains and all was weird. So i eventually got on the right train and was in the middle of getting there, when i realized that i forgot my credit card.
So back again.
And there goes the subway again, this time with credit card but still confused of all this subway rerouting stuff.
Now i finally got there.
No, not really. I got to a subway station somewhere "near" there, which was about a mile away. But never mind, at least we have a camcorder after this, right?
Wrong!
When i started walking towards my ultimate goal strange people showed up. First of all, they were all jewish, but that was not the strange thing here. They were all happy. And even more, they were celebrating!
Sure, they celebrated some sort of holiday...
Don't ask me what. But i began realizing that the shop i was just walking towards was truly being closed...
You know this feeling of your guts telling you something but your brain insist of it being wrong?
My guts told me the shop would be closed but my head insisted to keep walking.
Yeah, you know what happened.
The reason i'm making a story about this is that it was really fricking cold and fricking long way.
So that's how i spent my day today. Walking through the jewish part of brooklyn...
Alright here's some more pictures i took by the end of the week.
things are a little bigger round here...

and isn't this lovely? A family taking a break...

and finally...
we have this download here. A funny game which is somehow connected to the work i do. Try, though it is for windows only...

Anyone interested in some small MPEG movies on this blog? Or is there some dial-up modem user who has a veto?
Just be sure to tell me soon enough...

//puh!
the demo is near completion but still way to go. So i had a lot of work and even more confusion going on in the last couple of days round here.
You know, I'm going to be an animation specialist when i'm out of this. Baking IK Handles and Karma Dynamics really isn't that much fun to mess with...
Maybe i get permission to paste some screens on the weekend...
But let's see, i should have something for you. Ahhh, yes. Two nice impressions, the first on my way to, the second on my way from work. Although the smoke was still there when i came home tonight...

and don't you think i forgot about the vans? Well, here they come, and i assure you, there's PLENTY of 'em following.
So stay tuned...

You know what came to my mind the other day? You know 'fraggles'? The television series? Well, there's this one fraggle exploring the human world...

Update, a huge one
/////////////////////////////////
//Since i did not post a thing the last day or so, i'm pulling a pretty fat update today. First off, an actual guess about the weather and temperature at daytime...

ok, what next? Lets have some more nighttime pictures, this time of 42nd Street which is not really on my way home, but only three blocks away so i decided to have a walk today.

So, i recorded a sound to let you hear how things are bustling on the street, but unfortunately it is in .amr format. Any suggestions anyone?
I guess i'll do a recording on my way to work tomorrow through my webcam...
Ok, and let's see. I've been to a food market these days, yesterday and today, and they pile up everything they have. It looks extremely gorgeous and you barely believe they're not genetically engineered (i'm talking about the apples...). BUT it actually is bio-food. They call it organic which is quite funny since... the "other" food therefore must be unorganic, or synthetic. Welcome to a sad truth of the 21st Century...

AAAAaaaaand we might have a series. A series! A series! Yes Yes!
Sooooo. It's the all famous 'Van of the day' series. And every end of the week you can vote for your FBI-SpecialAgent-Van-of-the-Week.
This came to my mind whilst walking through the streets. You know those very very unsuspicious Vans FBI Agents use to spy on people? And you always think "how is it that noone notices this big black VAN in front of their house? It is the only VAN actually in the whole movie, makes you believe it is the only one on EARTH!"
Now, if you walk on NY's street you just see a million vans all looking like this very very unsuspicious FBI Van they use to spy on you....
And now i'm asking you which one's the most unsuspicious?
Todays VAN:

ok, so that's it for the weekend. See you on mondays.
And, yes, i guess i miss her from now on. Feels strange, not really bad, but kinda intense. Goes away with more sunlight i guess...
i wish you sleep well and have tender dreams.
