Prague

Welcome to Prague boys...

After arriving in Prague and eventually finding our spot, we moved to the Zizkov tower to install Robert's and Florian's mindbending piece. All game art pieces were shown at the tower. The second picture above is just a small impression of the gorgeous view you have from 120 meters above the ground.

We found that the festival wasn't that much scattered through the city, with most dance performances to show at the Vitkov Monument and most sound/visual performances to be held at the palac akropolis.
The Vitkov Monument was by far the most exhausting place to get to, nonetheless it was the most impressive as well.

Let's see some of the dance pieces that were shown there. First, there was that piece called VIRUS. A collaboration of ballet preljocaj and CIANT, a media Lab in prague. It had lasers in it and live motion capturing and game characters and light and projections and whatnot. I guess i'm about the only one that found something intriguing about the piece. I loved the dance. It was so well done.

The end was fucked, though. They sampled the windows "shut down" sound and it stretched soooo long...

The Zizkov tower that i mentioned before...

Whereas in the evenings, some rather abstract sessions took place at Palac Akropolis...

alright, that's about enough for today. More to come tomorrow.

Reini's art never stops to amaze me.

This time together with SMB aka Mittelböck. If you're interested, the full piece will be shown on May 19th in the uhof in Linz.
Oh, and while we're talking about Reini's sideprojects, be sure to check out daumenkino.at, austria's one and only flip-book festival. Be there or be somewhere else!

We're back. It was fun. There's so much material that i could show you that it'll take some time to get everything together. But just for a taste of it, here you have a sample of the gameboyzz concert we attended at the first evening. Just click the picture below...

Just a quick notice. Things are pretty cool here. Everybody's using Unreal to do all sorts of art projects. There's some crappy and some good things as well. We're all taking too many pictures, thanks a ton to the digital revolution.
The food is alright, the beer is cheap and the girls look gorgeous.
I'll post more shortly...

Leaving on a LADA
/////////////////////////////////
//
I'm leaving for prague in about ten minutes. Flocki's driving.
Honestly, i don't want to go. I feel like everytime i come back, things change for the worse. I know that this is just bad thoughts, but having all the people you like scattered all over the place (the world, that is) and never spending too much time with anyone before going somewhere else is kinda exhausting.
I need to make myself a home. Somewhere.

Though, of course, i'm far from complaining. Ain't it cool to do that whole art stuff? Meet interesting people?
Yes and yes.
So stay tuned for some pictures and stuff. Whatever.

So i'm writing this down to remind myself:
When i'm back i am going to sit down and get some work done.
After all, getting something done is one of the more rewarding things that happened to me recently.

Besides, as some might know I've been to stuttgart last week at the fmx conference and it was fun. Not so much the lectures - i just watched two or so - but meeting a lot of people i really enjoyed talking to.
Unfortunately, as always, there wasn't really that much time to talk to everyone i wanted to, though I've been there for a week, but it was great to have some good time with the Klaus boys (the two of them) and the weird people from hamburg doing this magazine.

Oh, you might want to check that out once it's finished here.
And then there was the relaxing part on sunday, which i REALLY enjoyed.
.

What else to say? Demoscene people are queer, but cool. VIP dinners have good food and lousy talk if you're not in the mood. And yes, it feels kinda strange to be hyped so much. Not me personally, but the medium and all that. It seems like people need to talk about something new, so they desperately searched for something media related...
I dunno. On the one hand it's cool and i think what were doing is really going somewhere. On the other hand, when compared to what people on the fmx were talking about and expecting, i can't help but feel a little misplaced. There's still a lot of work to do to make people understand what we're doing. And why should they care anyways? It's not elaborate enough to be art and not easy enough (yet) to be the democratic revolution in filmmaking we all want it to be.
Maybe bitfilm will help.
Maybe.
