Berlin!

somehow feels like home. Maybe cause it's travelling but people are still speaking german (most of the time).
Or maybe it's cause I've been there quite often in the last couple of years and i can almost navigate on my own...
Or it's because of the lovely people you know and meet there.
Let's start with a almost totally fucked up chili, ...almost.
It really was SO close...

and then a big "Thank you" to Isabelle for letting me stay at her place for full five days!

Of course, Berlin wasn't all vacation, fun and sunbathing. Actually, it was more like a work trip to give a talk at the symposium for Film and Information Technology of the Alcatel SEL foundation...about aesthetics in realtime movies. Talks are so booooring, see left picture below for proof.
And it turned out to be bad to forget my sweaters when stopping over at my parent's place... Cause i stayed even longer.

Thanks to Ahmet Emre Acar, who was kind enough to invite me to the SLI conference in the first place. And give me shelter when my stay was spontaneously prolonged to have another lecture at the HFF Potsdam Babelsberg (a german film university as depicted above).
Meet him and his lovely toys...

What follows are some impressions of pictures i took whilst walking through Berlin with Ahmet on a sooo lovely, warm Monday in July.
Enjoy! I did!

The conference/symposium/whatever was much more fun than i expected. Meeting Hugh was great, so was meeting Karin Wehn, Ingo and IAMSOBADWITHNAMESANDIDONTHAVEHISCARDHERENOW.
Plus all those people that approached me after my lecture to tell me how much they liked my work. Thank you very much. It's totally uplifting to hear that.
Btw, press coverage of the conference found its way to the "Stuttgarter Zeitung"...

Und ausserdem, was macht eigentlich mein Bruder so?
Na, er "wirkt" einfach...

On my trip to and from New York, i was visiting friends in Cologne and i wanted to say thanks to you Sven, Christian, Christiane and Christian again for a very good time and making leaving and coming back such a nice thing this time.
I can't stress enough how important this stuff really is.

Thank you so much for who you are.
On a sidenote, the aforementioned (i'm sure i told you about this) first austrian flipbook festival took place just recently.
Reini did such a good job putting it together and was rewarded with millions, ok, maybe hundreds (at least 80) of visitors...

So let's all say thank you Reini!

And say Hello to Elmo who had a special guest appearance at the show.

and of course, say "Congratulations!" to the competition winners...
"Congratulations!"

After some time off from blogging and touring the world, there's so much to post that i don't really know where to begin.
First off, there's some more impressions of New York and a huge, huge thank you to all of those lovely people i met there and, of course, to Theo, Frank and Kurt for letting me crash at their places.

this is central Park (as you might have guessed) and Theo and Emilie at Emilie's appartement. Yummy yummy salads there...
Afterwards, we tried desperately to get to this one great place to get some icecream, but all we found was this...

And on it went...

...and on...

...and so on.
Have some pictures of East Village.

This is whole foods at Union square, or the queue in front of the check-out counters to be more precise.
It's the place that mainly provided me with indian cusine. The one to the right depicts the beatiful view you have when taking your meal there.
Though, speaking of great places to eat, i just loved that "Milanesa" sandwich from the mexican place in Williamsburg from which i unfortunately didn't take any pictures.

And of course, have Paul and Frank at Frank's place and in full effect.
And Frank. And Frank and Paul.

and i have to show you some idea of the view from Michael's studio...

and in some more Detail...

And finally, some random impressions from my trip...

The Berlin trip... well, that's another tale i'm telling you soon enough. Have a good time and take care y'all.

ok, so i've been to berlin and i'm apparently still there. Did i mention that i forgot my damn usb connection cable to my camera? I mean really, i have about five cables because i always forget them and buy ine when i need them, but this is getting ridiculous...
So - no pictures, yet. But that'll change.
I'm giving a lecture on machinima at the HFF in Potsdam tomorrow (a film school) and i gotta be up at 7, so have a nice evening and stay tuned.
Really, there's going to be some more updates in the very near future. By the time i can change my underwear again you should see some pictures of the two recent trips.
I promise.
