No Pictures

there'll be plenty of them in a couple of days since i'll have access to the pics that pascale was shooting all throughout the festival. They're better and will show you a lot more. Plus, i did not get to take that much pictures in the last couple of days.
The ars electronica mainly is a platform for newly developed technology that's almost working and that being used in a very playful manner. Most of the things shown here have an interesting appeal for about 2 minutes, about the time you realise how things are working, and then you very much loose a lot of interest in it.

As always, there's things that stand out. The installation called "Listening Post" is definetly one of the most moving and breathtaking peaces i have ever seen in my live. It is made out of 231 small LED screens that show text excerpts found in newsgroups, irc channels and forums. These text fragments are not just presented visually on the small screens but also synthesized to a computer voice that speaks them in different tones and resembles an almost harmonic melody.

There's two things worth seeing in the permanent exhibition space at the ars electronica center itself, one is called "sur la table" and is a video projection onto a white table. Everything that is placed onto the table is tranformed into a continuous flow of pixels.
The other good thing is a couple of 3D butterflies that are being projected onto steam and follow the movement of your hand. It looks truly amazing.

After the last weeks of seriously too much work, it's actually not so easy to calm down and relax. Even though there's not so much to do right now (not SO much) it seems like adjusting to a slower pace does not work as good as i expected. There's a need of less input, a need to have your soul rest in one place and slow down yourself and the world around you.
Not thinking about projects, travelling and all those things that lie in front of me, maybe at least for the next week, might be a very good idea.
Actually, having people around me that know me to a certain extend definetly helps to relax, unfortunately this is very closely linked to travelling again.
This is pretty much circling around, isn't it?
